Dorset Business Mentors is an acknowledged centre of excellence in the UK whose mission is to improve the resilience and growth of Dorset businesses. Our mentors encourage and support ambitious business owners to realise their potential. This is achieved by linking business owners with volunteer mentors who have a wide range of backgrounds and extensive experience running their own businesses, in senior industrial or commercial roles, or in the professions. The significant contribution the programme makes to the business landscape in Dorset is well evidenced.

Dorset Business Mentors (formerly known as Dormen) has been linking volunteer business mentors with business owners across Dorset since 2005. Our mentors, over 120 in number, are an incomparable resource in the UK. They represent a wide range of backgrounds at senior management level position, enabling the service to effectively match the needs of individual businesses at all stages of development with mentor expertise. Mentors share a passion for business and are committed ‘to giving back’ to the local business community.
The Dorset Business Mentors programme receives the majority of its funding from Dorset’s local authorities, with additional funding provided by ERDF (the European Regional Development Fund). ERDF funding is currently funding free access to our programme for up to 3 months, for a limited period.
The core service offer to a business is to be linked to a mentor 1:1 in return for a contribution to administrative costs of just £200 for up to 12 months, renewable annually thereafter. Furthermore, the programme enables business owners to access additional expertise among the mentor cohort as needed, role mentoring for senior management, fully funded skills development courses and peer to peer networking opportunities.
